RE / FE Opportunity Integration

Does anyone know if future capability to integrate Opportunity records between RE and FE will be forthcoming? Thank you!

FE is a financial system, so I think it is unlikely that Opportunity record will “post” to FE as it is not financial “commitment”.

A financial “commitment” is a pledge, which can post into FE as a “collectible” depending on how your finance office configured FE.

The whole integration of RE and FE is based on GL distribution which is stored in a Fund record defined by Gift Type / Gift subtype combination. It will be a big lift with a lot of implication if they make opportunity record able to post into FE.

This request and my curiosity stems from how our finance team treats opportunities and pledges as “commitments” in an Accrual / Cash Accounting basis and not Fund Accounting basis. I recognize the nature of this deviation from traditional nonprofit accounting.

Understood. As I mention, it is unlikely that Opportunity will be able to post into FE. So it is best that you consider a process for when a Opporunity is consider a pledge, that an actual pledge gift record is put into RE, so normal posting of gift into FE will take care of your needs.

Another option is to automate, so when an opportunity is "ready (maybe when it is marked as completed?), that a pledge gift record is automatically created.
