Journal Entry Support Upload no longer available during entry

It seems you can no longer add an attachment while you are entering the journal. You now to save it and then come back and add it - has anyone else been experiencing this issue?

We are experiencing the same. We are not able to add attachment until we save the entry and exit.

  • @Brian Rojo it just suddenly disappeared with no notification which seems crazy to me.

We have been dealing with this for the better part of a year now where they just turn things off. My AP clerk is super frustrated currently with the design of the recurring invoices. It's as if the programmers aren't users of the system….. so they design things in a way that isn't efficient.

  • @Mary Ryberg
Have you gotten any more info about this? Was it in a product update that I missed? Our AP is frustrated with this as well

  • @Daniel Wallach no I have reached out but to me that is NOT an update

I actually just heard back from support - here's the unfortunate response:

Thank you for brining this to my attention and creating this support case. To confirm, this option was removed. I do apologize that these changes were not communicated, and will be sure to provide that feedback to my team to ensure we are communicating these types of changes in the future, as I understand it can be frustrating when things are no longer working the way we expect. Attachments can now only be added or edited through the Batch View page, rather than the Add Workflow. We made this change to give users the ability to view more transactions at once and to simplify managing JE lines.

    Sigh.

  • @Daniel Wallach but it did not simplify it

  • @Daniel Wallach We made this change to give users the ability to view more transactions at once and to simplify managing JE lines. - I do not understand this.

I agree, just passing along the response. If I get more I'll post here.

I think the issue they may have been trying to address is when someone is working on a journal entry that is rather large (our payroll entry is a couple thousand line items) and there was a large attachment support file being attempted to be saved it was causing the save feature to TAKE forever or fail and the our user would have to reimport.

  • @Brian Rojo hmm odd - some attachment we had were too large and we came up with another alternative on a system drive - the system response time has been a bit slow. It has just created more work for us. You can not add an attachment when you import do I do not know why your user would have to reimport.

  • @Mary Ryberg

When they import the journal entries, they would get a validation report, and sometimes certain lines would not be correct. They would need to open and edit and fix the issue (either manually add or update an account code). When they did that they use to add the payroll register report as support (since we use a third-party payroll processor).

The system would then attempt to “save” and sometimes it worked and other times we got navigated to a “uh-oh something went wrong” screen.

I am not advocating that they should have taken it away just trying to think that they mean:P

  • @Brian Rojo @Mary Ryberg

Brian I think your suggestion is likely it. This is all I got from support when I asked about the logic of removing it:

However, that will be easier for you to to attach the file after creating the batch and you don't need to edit the batch each time you would like to upload any file.

Hi all, the ability to add attachments to new JE batches has been restored. Apologies for the inconvenience, and thanks for your feedback.
