Gift Codes Missing from Miscellaneous tab on Gift Records
Has anyone had their Gift Codes from the tables disappear within the last couple of weeks? Ours disappeared a few weeks ago and are missing from the gift records Bio 2 tab and in NXT.

@Alex Wong - Sorry for the confusion. I'm talking about the Gift record's Miscellaneous tab where you see “Gift code”. Ours are missing. When we approve new gifts, it is blank on those as well even after I added our Constituent Codes back to our Table.

@Linda Guttridge Gift codes are a different table than ‘Constituent Codes.' Just like constit codes your Gift Code table should be fairly static.
Issues with gift code/previous lack of is one reason we do not process gifts in web view yet.

@Austen Brown - It is only the table entries. The “Gift code” field is there, but blank on all our gifts. Our gift code Table was also empty until I re-entered our active “Gift codes”. I used to run a query using the “Gift Constituency” code and it mirrored the “Gift code”. Now the “Gift Constituency” code mirrors the “Constituency Code”, which is fine. However, I need a way to change the “Gift Constituency”. I used to be able to change the “Gift code” and it automatically changed the “Gift Constituency”. That is not the case now. We have some situations where a gift is approved, but the donor had the wrong “Constituency Code". I would change the “Gift code” and the “Gift Constituency” would also change. It's not functioning that way now.

@Linda Guttridge Something seems off here. I've never known the gift code to mirror the gift constituency, and changing one changes the other. If that was the case, what's the purpose of the code? Why not just use the gift constituency? I'm pretty sure that gift code is an editable table, while gift constituency is based on the constituent codes on the record. You cannot add a gift constituency to a record if that constituent record does not have the code. It's always been that way AFAIK. I haven't see any issues with the gift code table. Mine looks fine.
Unless you had some type of code that mirrored the table. I HIGHLY doubt that, but I guess it's possible.

@Dariel Dixon - Thanks for the response. For the last three years, I have been able to change the “Gift Code” on the Miscellaneous tab of the gift record and it simultaneously updated the “Gift Constituency”. I can update a “Gift Code” now, but it does not update the “Gift Constituency”. When a gift was approved, the “Gift Code” mirrored the “Constituency Code”. Now our gift codes are blank when a gift is approved--even after I re-entered our Active Gift Codes in the Table and they are shown on the Miscellaneous tab in the “Gift Code” dropdown as well as in the “Constituency”. They are just not populated when a gift is approved. It's weird, I know. I submitted a case. Hopefully they can get it resolved soon.

@Linda Guttridge I think I'm understanding a little bit better, but some things are still confusing. Are you saying that you are entering gifts and changing the codes, and the gift committal process is removing them? How are you committing the gifts? Is it through batch or another method. Could there be a default that is clearing that data somewhere? I've not heard of the data being cleared out before.

What Dariel said is what I know as well.Gift Constituency is “sometime” auto-populated in the database view when committing from database view's gift batch. What gets auto-populated is the primary constituent code of the constituent record. When you try to edit the gift and change gift constituency, you are only allowed option that is set on the constituent's constituent code (bio2 tab), even though there may be a lot more constituent code in the table.
As for Gift Code, there isn't a business rule that does the mirroring that you said, as least I am also not aware of it.
Are you on RE NXT? RE hosted by Blackbaud? or RE local hosted? It is potentially possible that if you are local hosted that there may be some old customization that was put in that does the mirroring, which is unlikely supported by Blackbaud. Did you recently migrated?

@Dariel Dixon - Gifts being approved through Database view batch and NXT batch have no Gift Codes right now. They do have a Gift Constituency that mirrors the Constituency Code. Occasionally I need to change a gift code. Sometimes a gift is approved, and it has the wrong Constituency Code and therefore the wrong Gift Code. Example: A LYBUNT donor who gives a gift is no longer LYBUNT. They would be Mid-Level or Hi-Level according to our rating system. I would change the Gift Code and Constituency Code. When the Gift Code was changed it would change the Gift Constituency. It is very frustrating. Hopefully they get it fixed soon.

You cannot change the gift code in NXT batch as the field is not available in NXT at all, so you wouldn't be able to adjust this field until the gift was committed and you could change it in database view. Similarly, you can adjust it in the gift batch in database view iff you add the field as a batch column. You would need to add the field with a default value as this field is blank normally.

@Dariel Dixon Seconding, thirding… @Dariel Dixon and @Alex Wong what you're describing as auto is not a function I have ever heard of either.
The whole lack of gift code in web view is one reason we don't use it. When we did some gifts in web view I did have it wipe out changes I had made to the gift date.
It sounds like your org goes to a lot of extra work to change gift codes and gift constituency. I don't really understand why what you're doing is necessary. Are you running reports on gift constituency? Maybe you only have one fund as we run data pulls on LYBUNTs for various funds. We would never consider LYBUNT as a constituent code. So does a record stay with a LYBUNT constituent code until your next FY and then is changed to LYBUNT?

@JoAnn Strommen - A constituent with the constituent code of LYBUNT will change to SYBUNT at the beginning of our fiscal year unless they have given a gift during the current FY. We don't change very many constituent codes or gift codes (gift constituency), but we need the ability to do so when needed. We had a way to do that through database view in the past.

@Dariel Dixon - We were able to change the gift code in database view after a gift batch from NXT was approved or after a batch in database view was committed. My main intent for posting in the community was to see if anyone else had their gift codes disappear from the Table, or if the gift codes were not populating on the Miscellaneous tab of their gifts. We're waiting for support to restore all our gift codes and fix the issue where the gift codes are not populating when a gift is approved or committed.

We are just starting to use NXT more, or trying to. Gift Code is an important field for us as we code every gift to correspond to what line it needs to be on in our charity return (Charity). Has anyone inquired if it will eventually be in NXT?0 -

Gift code now can be added to gifts using the custom field option. Will see how it goes.

There are major changes coming in Q2-3 for gifts on webview, so I don't know if Gift Code is included there, you will want to join the Product Update Briefing coming 2nd week of May.I think you may be better off waiting for Gift Code (existing field in gift record) rather than create a new custom field and name it Gift Code, potentially having to replicate all existing values into custom field.
You can also report using Query in webview, which allows you to report on Gift Code.
