How do I find inactive GL accounts in FE NXT?
We inactivated a bunch of expense accounts during the pandemic that we expected to bring back to future budgets. I want to be able to start using some of them again, but I can't find where to view a list of just inactive accounts. I also can't see inactive Account Codes. How do I see those? It was always a toggle in DB view, so I could see at a glance which ones were inactive.
(Please don't tell me I have to design a report to show them - this should be a 5-second setting I can view at any time.) Thanks!

@Roberta A Gilbert when in the accounts menu, go to Filters and change the Data entry status

To see the inactive accounts, add the Status column to your view:

Thanks, Tanya. ok, I am an idiot. I was right there and didn't see it. I was so busy looking for the word “Inactive” that my brain didn't register that “Prevent data entry and posting” is exactly what I needed, d'oh!What about Inactive Account Codes? Were they just considered redundant? I had a few in the database but I no longer can tell (without comparing) which ones are Inactive in NXT, or if the Inactive ones got dropped.
Thanks again!

@Roberta A Gilbert I am not familiar with that process from database, but when I look at Account Codes in NXT, there is no option to inactivate them, so maybe they decided that was redundant and did not pull that over to NXT?

That's what I am thinking also. I just wish I could tell if any of the Acct Codes I see now are Inactive, or if those were simply removed from the list. Not an urgent issue, although the Account Activity status was, since I had accounts appearing on my reports that we no longer need, and I couldn't run a list of just the Inactive ones I wanted to restore. All good now!0 -
@Roberta A Gilbert In our FE NXT system we created an account code custom field called “Active” that is a yes or no. Also when we change an account code to No we add “CLOSED” to the beginning of the account code title.

This system should allow us to completely inactivate an account. I even have a ton that someone created that I'd like to delete, but inactivating is safer just in case there's something lurking in those accounts that I don't know about. And being able to BATCH inactivate accounts (or click down a list), projects, etc, would be great. I have about 15 years of junk that I'd like to clear away.0
