How does Raiser's Edge store which fund a gift was given to?

I'm trying to analyze gift data using SQL. I can't find how Raiser's Edge relates the GIFT table to the FUND table. There isn't a FUND_ID field in the GIFT table, nor a join table, such as GIFT_FUND.
I'd think I should be able to run a very simple query such as
SELECT [fields] from GIFT g JOIN FUND f ON g.FUND_ID = f.ID

or

SELECT [fields] from GIFT g JOIN GIFT_FUND gf ON g.ID = fg.GIFT_ID JOIN fund f ON fg.FUND_ID = f.ID

Can anyone help?

This was posted in the Altru forum. I think you need to post in the Raiser's Edge forum.

@Daniel Marsh I would reference the RE database schema

Download the db schema Dariel posted. it will serve you much good to read through it, understanindg a database schema is not easy and requires regular RE data knowledge and then some.

GIFT table store most one-to-one relationship data (i.e gift date, gift amount)

additional table store one-tomany relationship (i.e. gift split, gift soft credit)

GIFTSPLIT table will store how a single gift can be split to mutitple combination of campaign, fund, appeal, package, with split amount.

GIFTSPLIT doesn't store “fund” info as fund has many information (i.e. fund system id, fund lookup id, fund description category, etc), so GIFTSPLIT table only store the fund system id, which then you need to reference the FUND table to get the rest of the information.

and then there's the table entries, Fund Category is not a “string” that is directly stored in the Fund table, FUND_CATEGORY is an integer, a reference to the TABLEENTRIES table to get the string description from the integer.
