Personal Interests

I'm wondering where others are recording Personal Interests for constituents? These are not giving interests, but rather hobbies like skiing, golf, cooking, film, art, music, autos, etc.

I know there is a Volunteer Interests area which could be used (as we don't use the Volunteer module). There are also Custom Field Attributes, although the concern is that it will be over used and there will be too many of them.

The goal is to be able to query on these to see if there are people in a region with a common interest and then have some type of event gathering.

    @Chris Zello Probably your best bet will be attributes. Create a Category called Interests and have it a drop-down box, but yeah, you don't want to fill it up with all kind of stuff and keep it more to what your organization is looking for. With using an attribute, you can easily query off of that.

  • @Chris Zello Definitely second the use of Attributes/Custom Fields for this one. Also recommend that you create a table rather than use free text on the description - makes it so much easier to query if everyone is using the same terminology.
