Check Formatting suddenly changed

Yesterday I printed almost 150 checks, no problem. Broke for lunch, came back and printed 1. No change by me to formatting, it was WAY off. Chatted with BB, who were supposed to look into it and email me but I have not heard back yet. Ended up taking the format back to default and winging it (print test format, hold up to the light ha!) until I got it back to usable. Interestingly, what works now is a totally different format than I was using before, both “All Content” and “Vendor Address” tabs.

Hi Ginger! I would love to hear how you are getting the formatting to work out of NXT because we still can not get this lined up with our current checks and I am printing out of database. Thank you in advance!

  • @Ginger White In our case, the printing alignment in NXT doesn't match the printing alignment in Database and I know that we are not alone. It is way off and shrinking to 97% as suggested by others won't work. Wondering if they tried to push something through globally to make these sync up and it messed up your NXT printing.

  • @Tanya Bakken I tinkered around with the formatting tabs until I got it to a usable parameter. I download as a pdf then print from there, and I have seen some folks say they further tinker with it from the pdf print screen. Will it be the same next week? Not sure. Hoping for the best. Interestingly, when I did hear back from BB, their question was “are you using 3rd party checkstock”…. My answer was “that is irrelevant”

  • @Tanya Bakken and @Amy Dybala – My recommendation is to use one way, preferably NXT. Toggling between the two DB to NXT can mess up alignment. I'm an FENXT SME consultant and have seen this occur with some clients. Not only was the client switching between DB and NXT but there were multiple users printing checks which for some reason caused issues. Lastly there are some browser settings and printer driver too that can cause differences. The two links below may be more for your IT department but is good to know.

Lastly, using checks from Blackbaud forms can be aligned, but if you use checks from a different source and if the stub is on top and check on the bottom, MAYBE it could be aligned but not guaranteed. BUT if the order of the stub and check vary– it CANNOT be aligned – example check is on top or the middle. So Blackbaud forms check vs other does make a difference.

the check alignment has been problematic (and constantly shifting) for at least a year. It's infuriating. The only solution we've come up with has been to print from Database as long as we still can and print a test alignment check first for every check run.
