Life time giving and event registration fees

I have been asked to come up with an easy way for people to see the ‘real’ lifetime giving that does not include registration fees. Any suggestions? Thank You Mark

@Mark Bezanson Have been waiting to see if anyone has as an answer for you. I wish I did.

This is one of the reasons we are not processing event registrations in web view. Besides LTG it can skew gift stats/metrics and even cause accounting issues in some cases. I have repeatedly requested a way to not commit these fees as gifts since at least 2020. My latest suggestion was a specific gift type.

If you don't like Blackbaud definition of “stuff” (donor lifecycle, what is consider “giving” and what isn't), you will have to go the custom route. Building a custom report that “fits” to your org use of RE data table's field. An option is to use Power BI via a custom connector or Power Automate. It does have a learning curve, so if you want to learn more, hop over to developer.blackbaud.com

  • @Alex Wong Thank you Alex.

  • @Mark Bezanson What if you used the gift type “Other”. From "Settings" you can then exclude this gift type from “Recognition”.

In DB view, I have a query that excludes specific funds from being included so this is used in my export as a filter for ticket fees, etc. from everything else when total giving is being included.

Thank you. I will give that a try.

We use the Fund Type & Fund Category fields to identify “non-gift” funds and as @Alex Wong stated we use Power BI to create custom reports. Although as long as you can isolate the funds you don't want included you should be able to pull a report from RENXT directly. (i.e. query on funds with our without specific fund type/category.)
