Acknowledgement Letters - 3rd Party

I am having a tough time figuring out a workflow for generating acknowledgement letters that we need print and mail everyday.

I have tried letterbox but the free version does not include tributes and soft credits, I have tried to Microsoft Power Automation and the free version or limited version does not include the business automation. Everything is an extra cost. The base product doesn't include a lot of extras, and is $$$ and every answer is a third party or open API, but to make it work for our needs without work arounds the solution is always an extra cost. I have spent an entire day trying to get this setup and have gotten no where.

Any suggestions for sending acknowledgement letters within the Blackbaud Razer Edge NXT database?

@Kim Russell Welcome to the BB community forums.

Until they bring the Mail function over to web view, you can use Mail in db view.

If you haven't used it before you can find help at

Search for mailing receipts and you'll get a number of links.

  • @Kim Russell If you are using database view, as we are, you should be able to do an export into an excel file that is then used in Word mail merge, using a template that connects the Acknowledgement letter designated to each constituent/gift using “If/Then” statements. If you have questions, reach out and I can give you more details on how to set this up. It could be helpful if you use the same letters for specific types of gifts. wwamembers@wisconsinwetlands.org

@Kim Russell This has been a challenge for a lot of people. I would definitely check out this post from around the time of the initial removal of Microsoft Office integration. It includes several options such as the nesting if/then statements that @Samantha Foster was mentioning.
