Different data between API and UI in Sandbox

I just got access to the sandbox cohort and wired it up, but the data my api is pulling is not the same as the sandbox. Anyone have any idea why? Was assuming it was auth related, but also don't expect any data coming back if that is the case. Any guidance would be much appreciated.

are you using power automate or your own app?

if power automate, and you have created a connection before that ties to your org's RE NXT instance, you will never be able to tell which environment you are connected to.

Create a new “power platform environment" for each RE NXT environement that you connect to

  • @Alex Wong Thanks for getting back to me. Was using my own app with the school api. Thinking the lists in blackbaud are my issue. Not sure where directories plug in, but thinking im viewing lists in blackbaud and the directory does not have the same data.

My assumption is always RE NXT SKY API, so if you are using EM then I'm not much help. Maybe someone else with that product and used their API can chime in

Maybe you're hitting something to do with the Profile Access settings (configured in Core) or an individual's profile privacy settings?

Specifically, Lists are used by staff for internal needs.

But Directories are used by students and families for their needs (staff use them too, but the primary audience is students and families).

For example, someone might have an address and phone number hidden from a directory for more privacy, but that info still appears in a list that staff use internally.

This may also affect name and gender data. For example, I might be in the directory as “Ms Jane Smith” because that's what students call me as my preferred name, but the internal list might show my full legal name info as Ms Johanna Jingleheimer Schmidt. Depending on settings, etc.

PS. I'm going to move this discussion thread from the General API section of the user community to Education Management's School API sub-section. Hopefully that'll also get more eyes on it that know it too.

If you have a specific call that is different from the data in the UI, please give some detail. I can look into it to see if it is expected behavior. Bryna is right that Directories control what is shown more granularly, so the differences there might be by design.
