NXT gift list in Power BI Relationship to Date Table

I'm attempting to create a year over year appeal review in powerbi using NXT connector data. I first created a NXT gift list that grabs all relevant gifts. Then I created a Date Table in powerbi to be able to use full Time Intelligence functions. I'm trying to connect the two tables, one-to-many, from the Date Table to the Gifts list, single direction, but powerbi keeps flipping the relationship to many-to-one from the gifts list to the data table, single direction.

I've tested that gift dates contain no Null or blank values, no Non-date values and no Orphan dates (dates in Gifts that don’t exist in Date Table), made sure again and again that both were pure dates.

Finally, learning that the NXT connector might be the issue due to "OData feeds and predefined NXT lists behind the scenes", I created a local copy of the gifts table to break the connector metadata. But powerbi still flips the relationship. I'm all out of ideas :)

Any suggestions would be super helpful.

Thanks!

Peter

it doesn't matter if you have gift.date < many to one > datetable.date
    or

    datetable.date < one to many > gift.date

they are the same. so the question is, what issue did you run into?

How is your date table define? does it have all date in a year/multiple years?

  • @Alex Wong Thank you, Alex! You're exactly right per the flipped relationship direction. Once I pulled my head up from chatgpt it was obvious :) Issue resolved for now. Thanks!
