Receipts in Canada - OLX to web view transition

Has anyone in Canada moved their online credit card processing from OLX to web view? We are really struggling to get receipts to work properly. Any hints/wisdom/commiseration would be appreciated!

  • @Mhairi Murray We are currently in our testing phase and plan to go-live by end of this month with the NXT Online Giving and Online Gift Management. But could please provide some insights on what specific issues you are facing?

  • @Mhairi Murray Once you have implemented receipting, you have to approve the batch before receipts will go out. They do not go out automatically. I am hoping that functionality is coming. Receipting for recurring gifts is currently not available. So you will issue 12 receipts and/or a gift summary. Not ideal, but that's what we have.

Hi there! We can process the gift, but for some reason it won't appear in our ‘to be receipted' list. It also doesn't give me the option to receipt when I open the gift directly. We also understand that web view doesn't have receipt stacks, so how does it know which receipt template to use (assuming we can get that far)? On the gift I can still select an acknowledgement letter, but we only use those in DB view. I'm sure there's something huge and obvious we are missing, I just can't see it!

We're stuck at actually getting the option to issue a receipt, but like I said to Ravneet, I bet we're just missing something obvious. Don't get me started on recurring gift receipts! We are not moving that over until the very last minute - our donors do not want non-consolidated receipts and I understood that the annual statement was not considered a receipt by the CRA, so I'm hoping that gets resolved eventually

  • @Mhairi Murray
Glad you brought up the issue of not being able to view ‘Not Receipted’ gifts in the list.

As a workaround during our testing, we usually open the individual gift (assuming the initial receipt has already been sent by the system on batch approval) and then issue a duplicate using the ‘Replace Receipt’ option under Acknowledgements and Receipts in RENXT.

This approach is mainly used if a donor reaches out requesting a new receipt. Also, we'll be using NXT Gift Processing only for online gifts for now, to help our team get comfortable with the process. We don’t have plans to fully transition to NXT Gift Processing just yet - this will be rolled out in phases for our team.

  • @Mhairi Murray I would be happy to jump on screen sharing session to help you troubleshoot. Shoot me an email.

  • @Mhairi Murray we are currently only using the database view for processing gifts and receipts because I cannot find anywhere to edit receipts in NXT and add “eligible amount of gift” which is required by the CRA to be on receipts. There are other issues too, like not being able to consolidate, no receipt stacks, we use the reference field on receipts for gifts-in-kind as you have to add the valuation and that's not available in NXT receipting, so we are stuck in the database view.
