Best Approach For Reissuing Checks from Previous Accounting System in Financial Edge NXT

Hello everyone! We have a handful of stale checks from prior years that we would like to reissue through Financial Edge NXT. Some checks were misplaced/lost by the vendors and we were able to obtain updated information from them. The checks were previously processed in Great Plains (our prior Accounting system). Has anyone had success with re-processing checks in Financial Edge from a prior accounting system? If so, how did you approach this without throwing your Bank Reconciliation in Financial Edge out of balance?

Important background : How were the checks brought over to FE? 2nd are any of those reconciled , and or posted?

  • @Kevin Brazell We did a large import of beginning balances into FE, so the specific check and vendors didn't carryover. The vendors had to be recreated within FE in order to reissue the checks, so essentially, these are considered new transactions/vendors within FE.

@John Merriwether so clarificaton : Are these cut as new checks / payments from FENXT, or did they bring over the outstanding checks as Payment adjustments in the bank register. They have different processes so, we need to know th specifics.

  • @Kevin Brazell The checks were originally recorded in Great Plains and not individually imported into FE. They were previously recorded and reconciled as outstanding checks in Great Plains, so they were reflected in the General Ledger import from Great Plains. We have since disconnected our Great Plains server, so we no longer have access to void within Great Plains. If we update the General Ledger within FE, is there a way to ‘clear’ the transactions in FE so we won't have a perpetual variance when completing the monthly bank recs?
