Best Practices-Online Giving Forms

Hi,

I am looking for idea/best practices for utilizing multiple online giving forms. I have seen orgs use 1 main form that is always active on the website and then a few others located in other places on the website for specific funds like athletics or parent clubs or a giving day.

I am looking to use a new form to go with every mailing for better tracking. In doing this, do orgs have links/sidebars showing all these forms for specified period of time or are these forms not live on the website but only accessed by clicking an email specific to the same mailing ask? If on website, how long to you keep it live?

Thanks!

    Hi Kristy,

I (currently) only have 1 form on my website, but I'm working on getting the team to see the value in having multiple forms. Regardless, I have created different event-specific forms. I don't host them on our website, but rather launch them from the Blackbaud url. After you create your form, you can go to Publish, then Launch From It's URL, and there you can download the direct link to the form or the QR code. I've always used the QR code, and it's worked great. You could use those on your mailings.

@Kristy Hill I think having too many links to forms is counterproductive. Have a main giving page, and have links to a handful of specialized pages with options different from the main form. I wouldn't have them linked in a menu at all (there's a reason the main giving page is the one being highlighted). They can be linked through text on different pages with information specific to those forms.

  • @Kristy Hill We have one main donation form that lives on our website; there are a handful of other pages related to specific programs that have dedicated donation forms. We do have many other donation forms that are specific to other fundraising campaigns (such as direct response, auxiliary fundraising, special events, etc.) that are not linked anywhere via our website. Those form urls are formatted to assist with automatic/default coding during our gift download process. The donation forms are established with unpublish deadlines that will redirect the donor to our main giving form if that campaign is complete.
