Designation and Appeal in CRM

In Blackbaud CRM - we have a designation for larger Leadership payroll gifts. We want to keep that designation but also track how that gift is used.
For example: $10,000 payroll deduction in Leadership designation and payroll appeal. Of that $5,000 to our Gala and $5,000 to a RUn/Walk. Any ideas how we can keep the original designation and appeal but also be able to track how that money will be used. WE thought using a gift attribute but thought someone may have another idea. Thanks.

  • I know you said you didn't want to change the designation but personally I'd be inclined to have the designation as however it's being used, payroll as the payment method, and appeal as the gala/run etc. If I needed to tag it as a leadership payroll gift specifically then I'd probably use an attribute for that, unless there's something on the constituent record that would let me report on that without adding extra info to each gift.

    It's not great practice to use a single field to record one type of info for some records and a different type of info for other records, which sounds like your current situation if you're using the designation to record the actual use for your non-payroll gifts but not for your payroll gifts?
