Why is Query's "One of" operator inconsistent?

As I'm using Query in webview, I'm noticing that some fields, like Appeal ID, do not allow me to paste in a list of values from a spreadsheet as I would expect. Most fields do allow paste-in? I'm trying to understand if this is intended or some kind of bug. I would like to suggest that the UX for "One of" needs to be consistent and allow paste-in regardless of field. I cannot commit to memory what fields work in which way. Please keep it simple.

it really depends on the field and data type.

Appeal ID is querying on a "record type" which is very different thing querying on a text or number field that can easily allow for copy/paste multiple.

I do think it's the intended behavior, however, I also think Blackbaud "can" allow the same behavior even across different data type, so IdeaBank is all I can say.

It's strange, isn't it? It's not a bug as it's been that way for a while. I'm pretty sure there's an idea in the idea bank for it. Constituent ID have no problem with pasting a list, but other ID fields in other types of queries just can't. shrugs But please look in the idea bank and vote for the idea.

  • It's not actually inconsistent. Query won't let you paste in a set of values if the field you want to paste in is a table field. So, Fund IDs and Appeal IDs are a table field and you have to select them from a list. Constituent IDs are a fill-in field so you can paste in those values. For me, the real issue is that the UX in webview for choosing your one-of fields is so laborious (if you have 400+ Fund IDs like us, you end up having to click "load more" more than 30 times to get to all your values) that it makes it very difficult to do what was a fairly simple task in database view.

I created an Idea in the Idea Bank to adjust the UX to make this type of process more functional. Please consider voting for it!
