Classification code numbers, as well as description, visible in new application form

Hello. When we add classification questions to a new application form, the code number as well as the description are visible eg:

This is clunky and doesn't make any sense. The code numbers are purely there to facilitate a logical non-alpha order of the coding options. If we remove them, then that logical ordering is no longer possible (just alpha order).

Has anybody been able to unpick or resolve this? - either to see how to make the code number not visible, or to have a better way of ordering the options in the first place when alpha order isn't the best choice.
