Creating Admin User for a Vendor?

Hello,

We've been with a new vendor 'AlmaConnect' (not to be confused with AlmaBase) for about a year and it has proven to be a good resource for alerting of us of job changes and news articles for our alumni and donors. They have an integration available with RE via SKY API that would allow us to update employment relationships and add news articles to RE with the click of a button which would save our prospect researcher and data entry team a lot of time. My concern is that in order to setup this integration they need us to create a user for them with administrator rights for a "short time" (probably around 2-3 weeks).

Has anyone had experience doing anything like this? Would this be a major red flag for you? If anyone has any direct experience setting up the integration with AlmaConnect and can speak to that that would be great.

    Since it sounds like you're uncomfortable with this request, ask them to tell you the exact permissions they need the account to have. They should be accommodating of your request - if they're not, then that's a red flag.

  • Thanks Austen, that sounds like a good way to address it. We did just hear from someone on the APRA forums who says the integration doesn't work all that well so if that's the case I'm not going to bother with it.

    Sound advice from Austen - couldn't agree more. I have a hard time imaging a scenario where I would be comfortable with that.
