S Tags available in autoresponders
Looking for some insight into S tag availability and the use of test conditionals in autoresponders. We would like to be able to key off of the participation types to dynamically thank the donor for their giving. In addition, we want to lift the answer to one of the questions that is associated with the participants registration to create the custom email message. There is existing code that works within the Thank you for your registration autoresponder but does not work within the Thank you for your gift or Thank you for your offline donation autoresponder. Are there limitations on where this type of coding is allowed/not allowed within Teamraiser? Here is the code in question:
Thank you for your offline gift in [[?x[[E48:[[S42:0:fr-id]]:part-type]]x::xHonorx:: honor of [[E48:[[S42:0:fr-id]]:question:Celebration/Memorial/Honor person name:]]. :: [[?x[[E48:[[S42:0:fr-id]]:part-type]]x::xMemorialx:: memory of [[E48:[[S42:0:fr-id]]:question:Celebration/Memorial/Honor person name:]]. :: celebration of [[E48:[[S42:0:fr-id]]:question:Celebration/Memorial/Honor person name:]]. ]] ]]

@Stephanie Gleason
You want S120 tags if it's for an email. A gift autoresponder wouldn't know who the participant is, and I'm relatively sure S42:0:___ is wonky in several places. Offline gifts can be a little wonky, so know that ahead of time.I recommend making a custom email stationary for testing the autoresponder, that will give you a readout of all the possible S120 tags that work. What you'd want to do:
- New Email stationary, name it something like ** TESTING: TR AR TAGS **. Type should be “Autoresponder messages” and “Email from Teamraiser…”
- Basic layout step, copy/paste the attached text file.
- Plain text step, enter [[S6]]/CO .
- Publish
Assuming I don't have any bugs in that code, you be able to get a nicely formatted list of every possible AR field from the documentation.
From there, you should be able to get the S120 that gives you the fr_id and participant's cons_id, using those in your S48 conditional. Something like:
[[E48:[[E42:[[S120:dc:_____]]-[[S120:dc:_____]]:question:…
This particular technique should work pretty much anywhere and with any tag, so you can get a feel for how various LO sub-systems have access to different S-tag contexts. It's good for testing what shows on Thank You webpages, various email triggers, campaigns, etc.

@Jeremy Reynolds - Thank you for your reply! I tried out your code in a new stationary and it appears as if none of these s120:dc:xxx tags return the fr_id or participants cons_id.
One clarification on testing with this stationary is whether I can just preview the stationary or if I have to go attach it to an autoresponder email to see the results as you expected? When I did a preview it seemed as if it was able to pick up a recent donation as an example.
What I am trying to determine is if the S48 tags to derive the participation type and question values work on donation autoresponders. If I were to hard code in the event fr_id, could that work in this particular case?

@Stephanie Gleason
You'll want to do an actual donation and trigger the “real” autoresponder. Preview will give dummy data. I usually test these by doing an offline unconfirmed cash/check gift (and having the event's advanced settings so they allow thank you emails on those).If you're seeing a bunch of blanks in the “real” email you trigger with a gift, either my code is wrong or LO is losing its context and you'd be kinda stuck. While you'd be able to hard-code the event ID, you'd have no way of capturing who the participant (proxy_id) is for the gift being given.
Just looking over some of my own code, I expect your survey question would render with something like this:
[[E48:[[S120:dc:teamRaiserId]]-[[S120:dc:proxyId]]:question:Celebration/Memorial/Honor person name:]]

Hey there, @Stephanie Gleason
To be able to see what S120 S-Tags are possible in a given autoresponder, you may want to use [[S120:help]] in the message and then preview the message. It will then show you what S120 S-Tags can be used in that autoresponder that are S120 S-Tags.
Next, regarding the [[S42:0:fr-id]] code that you have above, this translates to the TeamRaiser ID number. So, if the TeamRaiser ID were, for instance, 1040, you can replace the "E" in the code with an S and hard code in the TeamRaiser ID number in that spot in the code. When you copy your TeamRaiser events, it should update that number to the next TeamRaiser ID number for the next year's event.
e.g. From this: [[E48:[[S42:0:fr-id]]:question:Celebration/Memorial/Honor person name:]].
To this: [[S48:1040:question:Celebration/Memorial/Honor person name:]].
Aside from S120 S-Tags, here are some good TeamRaiser S-Tags to use are S42, S43, and S48. Here is a "Quick Reference" documentation to look into those and what is possible with them.
I hope you find this response helpful.
Thanks,
Will0
