Soft Credit Import ID Blank

I’m working on importing soft credits from one instance of RE to a different instance. I created the import file from Admin-import- Soft Credit gift. I open the import file and the SoftCredRecip field is blank on some records. In NXT I open the actual gift and there is a soft credit name - the spouse. However, the spouse is not a full constituent record. I open the record in database view, and the soft credit name is there. I try to save and close the record but then I get a message that the sc recipient must be a constituent. Has anyone else encountered this?

    Hi Elaine,

    In order to receive soft credit for a gift, the record must be a full constituent record. One of the "gotchas" with importing data is that Import will ignore set database rules and as a result can add data in way that isn't supported when done in the front end - like giving soft credit to non-constituent records. So for those donors to receive s/c they need to be converted to full constituents.
