Year End Giving Statement

Hello!

I am looking to produce a report to send to donors that concisely lists their actual giving (no outstanding commitments) in a way that is not super laborious to prepare. Does anybody have any suggestions?

I know that @Elizabeth Johnson has been using RedArc's Letterbox tool which you can purchase for the year or just monthly. I've highlighted the MONTHLY payment option in the screenshot below. If you are purchasing for year round use, I suggest you switch to Annual pricing as it will be cheaper overall.

There is a 20% discount available currently for annual subscriptions.

I've recently purchased for one of my organizations as well and I really love the tool!

There are some other options available via Power Automate that I bet @Austen Brown could tell you about.

That's right - we have used for the last three years and love love love it! Set it up once - our templates are there each year and some very minor tweaking to reflect the change in years and we are done. Thank you @Henrietta Hawkins and @Stu Hawkins!

Carlene - thanks for the shout-out. It's possible to do this via Power Automate, I've built a number of flows for clients that take care of the tax statement process from start (data prep/merging) to finish (final files/emailing to donors). Check out AutomateGenius for more information.

Power Automate is a "no/low" code platform that can do a lot more than just donor year end giving statement. It is a great career investment in my opinion for any database manager/administrator.

if interested to learn, there are many resource available on developer.blackbaud.com (don't let the word developer in here scare you away from it). There are also many template that can be used as a starting point to modify.

Assuming you would like to do this for 2025 year-end, I highly recommend using Query and Export.

Yes, PowerAutomate can do a lot of things. But can you learn it, test it, and feel confident in the results before the end of January? Probably not.

Yes, RedArc is great and can prepare these for you. But do you have the budget for it and time to do onboarding right now? Probably not.

It is absolutely worth checking out those tools for next year, but that is something you should start doing much earlier.

I am agreeing with Karen. For all the money we spend on Raiser's Edge (and our organization spends a HUGE amount for various products), we should not have to spend more money on a third party. Something simple like year end giving can be done as Karen said thru query and export or reports such as the Annual Statement Report in in Financial Report. I refuse to pay for third party software when we pay a little under 100K.

@Karen Diener I hear you. The statement feature in RE web view isn't perfect but maybe it is good enough. It was really close to what we needed.
