New Standardized Phone Number

Good Afternoon -

We activated the new standardized phone number as described in the release notes. Still, admissions just reported to me that they have processed inquiries and applications since the setting was enabled, and the standardization is not occurring.

Has anyone else experienced this?

  • @Scott Chrysler My team is reporting the same thing. Phone numbers are not being standardized when inquiry and admission forms are processed. They still need to clean up the format manually.

  • I am experiencing this as well. I still have to clean up phone numbers when they come over from Enrollment Management into Core.

  • I enabled the new phone format of ###-###-#### ext. for us, but when I go to add a new phone number, the example displays as Example: (201) 555-0123. I feel like the example shown should also reflect the new format we chose.

  • Has anyone had any luck with this? We are still having to go back and edit/clean up phone numbers as they come in even though Phone Number Validation is enabled.

  • We are experiencing the same issue. I set up the format but it only shows Example: (201) 555-0123. It's not actually formatting the number when entered on inquiries and apps.

  • I listened to the recording of the Product Update Briefing that I missed last week, and they did a recap of recent new features, and they mentioned the telephone number formatting standardization. They indicated that it is currently set to only correct numbers directly entered onto the contact card. It does not yet have the ability to reformat telephone numbers coming from forms/applications, etc.

Obviously, for most organizations, I would assume the most common way a phone number gets populated is via an online form, so entering phone numbers directly on the contact card is a rarer scenario. However, I believe Blackbaud has started with the contact card and will then be moving to forms.

  • To me this release doesn't help at all unless the releasee was to include inputs from forms, applications or inquiry forms, because that's where most of the phone numbers are populated. So we are still manually having to reformate. Like everyone say it's rare that current contact card gets updated. It's like when they come up with these fixes do they not think that the main places the phone numbers are collected is under admission or any other types of forms in the school.

  • As of today, I noticed that Blackbaud has now expanded the telephone number formatting to Emergency Contacts as well. I look forward to seeing it expanded to data incoming from forms.
