Blackbaud FE NXT - Merging vendors

When I attempt to merge vendors, I get the error below. Does anyone have any input on how to fix this error?

    Look at both vendors, particular the custom fields. See if there is anything using "other" then go to corresponding table, make it active. Then go back and merge. And if needed go back to table and make "other" inactive again.
