New Layout for Canadian Tax Receipts

Has anyone experienced any issues with the new layout of the Canadian Tax Receipts?

In the past, as per CRA guidelines, we always had a statement on all tax receipts (for gifts with no advantages) that said, "No goods or services were provided in exchange for this gift".

However, with the new layout rolled out by BB, that statement seems to be missing. Instead, there’s a new field at the bottom of the receipt called “Eligible amount of gift.”

With tax season approaching, I am wondering if this might cause any compliance issues with the CRA. Any thoughts or insights?

Thanks!

  • As per CRA requirements the wording "eligible gift amount" is the terminology I have seen used. Also as per this link from CRA: https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/charities-giving/charities/operating-a-registered-charity/issuing-receipts/what-information-must-on-official-donation-receipt-a-registered-charity.html

"No good or services provided….", in my experience is terminology required by the IRS.

@Aldera Chisholm or @Frankie Chow — have either of you heard otherwise?

I can confirm, CRA doesn't require the "No Goods…" Statement. They ask for us to say "Eligible Amount of Gift." I have this great example from CRA:
