gift aid declarations applying to single gift only

On our donation forms, donors have the option to select gift aid either for all future donations or for just that one gift. If they choose the latter, we add an end date to the declaration which is after the gift date, so that the gift will still be eligible. This has always worked in database view, however, I have just found that in web view, if a declaration has an end date it is marked inactive and any gifts not covered by a previous declaration are marked ineligible. The only way round this I can see is to not add an end date until after the next gift aid claim, which seems very clunky and laborious as we would have to keep a list of relevant declarations that would need to be changed. Is this really how it's supposed to work or am I missing something?

I feel like this isn't how it's supposed to work - might be something to check in with BB Support or maybe @Chris Ager can shed some light?

Hi @Rachel Cavalier - thank you for tagging me.

@Steve Townsend This will work so you are ok to keep with this process. I have seen this process a number of times. 😊 The declaration does show as inactive once the end date has passed, but the gift will still be eligible and it will still be picked up by the gift aid claim. If this is not the case for any reason, please do contact BB Support who can look into this further for you

  • thanks, that's helpful - seems a rather confusing system.
