How do you use "How did it go? Thumbs up/Thumbs down?"

Greetings, everyone! I am interested to know how others have been using the Thumbs up/Thumbs up down buttons in Actions. I haven't found documentation yet that provides adequate information about its purpose, or how it is designed to be used. I am not quite understanding the overall value. Does it help you understand frontline activity better? I welcome any and all answers! Thank you!

My organization is not currently using it. Potentially, it could be used in moves management. i.e. A fundraiser calls/emails x times and each time was unsuccessful in reaching the person in their portfolio. The fundraiser logs a thumbs down each time. After x number of thumbs down, the constituent is reviewed and potentially removed from a portfolio and placed back into the prospect pool.
It seems like it'd be harder to retrieve and organize results from the action notes area.

I'm not even sure if that field can be used in queries or lists.

We haven't used it yet. I have imagined it would be useful for noting when a donor has not been receptive to solicitations or doesn't click with their solicitor. But the reality is that there are so many factors playing into those encounters that a simple "thumbs up/thumbs down" rating doesn't explain enough to be really useful at a small or medium org. It might be more useful at a larger org with multiple MGO's, where a Director needs to oversee his staff performance at a glance for assessment purposes.

Yes, this was my question, too. I tried to see if I could build a list, but I don't see a way. It seems it's only visible in the record, and only in web view.

Sarah, you can build a query in database view. It's under the Action Attributes, called "NXT Action Outcome".

  • @Sarah ConnerSmith We do not officially use it as part of our processes or reporting (though some fundraisers might of their own accord). I personally think that a thumbs up or down is a bit vague and unless there was a very set standard of what “up” or “down” meant, any metrics (or decisions) made around it could be skewed depending on the person “rating” it.

Related- I am also slightly chuckling at the irony that in this thread, many comments have likes/thumbs up on them :)
