How do you take your coffee? The benefits might save your life!
When it comes to the one of the world's most popular beverages, how do you take it?
Freshly ground might be the most beneficial according to a new study. After examining nearly half a million people, “compared to non-coffee drinkers, coffee drinkers had a 21% reduced risk of chronic liver disease, a 20% reduced risk of chronic or fatty liver disease, and a 49% reduced risk of death from chronic liver disease. The maximum benefit was seen in the group who drank ground coffee, which contains high levels of the ingredients kahweol and cafestol, which have been shown to be beneficial against chronic liver disease in animals.”
So, cheers. That morning cup of Joe might be doing quite a bit more for you other than waking you up!
What's YOUR coffee of choice? What coffee beverage gets you up and running? We'd love to hear about your favorites below.

Ah, I'm the unhealthy drinker, lol! ? When I drink coffee (maybe once a week), it's ¼ cup coffee mixed with lots of milk and a little sugar. Not the healthy menu cited in the studies!
It would seem that women would need to be careful when they drink those 3+ cups of caffeinated beverage each day. “Studies on coffee consumption and estrogen have shown that women who drink four to five cups of coffee a day, about 500mg of caffeine, had nearly 70 percent more estrogen during the early part of the menstrual cycle than women who drink less than one cup of coffee a day.” So women, this healthy liver regimen may have to be taken on a monthly schedule. ?

I drink mine like Faith drinks hers! I did, however, switch from ground recently to k-cups because the grounds. get. everywhere. I did switch from milk to heavy whipping cream, to cut down on the sugar. :-D

I don't drink coffee. At all. I can't stand the taste. Oh, though, a good tea?!? So hard to beat!!! I love me a good strong flavored black tea in the mornings to help start my day, caf or decaf. If I drink tea in the afternoon or evening, it's more likely a green tea or herbal.
More for you all! LOL
Thanks for sharing, Ray! (I can't @ you for some reason right now..) It's always fascinating to me to learn more about what our foods and drinks can do for us.

Well, I was never a coffee drinker, despite everyone telling me I would learn to love it when I went to college. Nope! Iced tea (sweet, of course - thank you Southern roots!) or hot tea was the closest I ever drank.
Then I received a gift card to Starbucks about ten years ago. ? I started with cafe mocha, since that's mixed with hot chocolate basically. My girls have gotten me to try iced coffee finally, and I like it with caramel sauce and skim milk. Not so healthy! Kind of like @Faith Murray I'd say. I've learned to appreciate the flavor, @Heather MacKenzie, although sometimes I think I still like hot tea better. I found a wild huckleberry tea I absolutely LOVE with some honey. I just ordered three more canisters (20 bags each) from Amazon. ?

Fresh brewed every morning from my Cuisinart, milk, sometimes with, sometimes without sugar! ☕

I'm with @Heather MacKenzie - no coffee for me! Not even tiramisu!

I put all these ingredients in my Vitamix and blend: hot coffee, protein powder, collagen powder, turmeric root, ginger, cinnamon, matcha powder, flaxseed, cauliflower, ¼ of a beet, spinach and 2 tablespoons of almond milk creamer. Blends up nice and smooth!

I love lattes. That's how I learned to drink coffee- an early morning training after staying out late the night before, so I got a heavily sweetened latte to get through my day. That was all it took.
My favorite is from a local shop, Trianon, and I usually get a 4 shot latte with stevia to sweeten it. This morning, Trianon was not on my route in, so I opted for another local shop, Quacks, and I am thoroughly enjoying a latte with oat milk. I sweetened it with lavender honey. It's a great way to start this week!3 -
Oh gack, I'm all for fruit smoothies blended with beets and zucchini - and I'll take tumeric in rice, chili, or by pill - but tumeric in coffee? That's as bad as my husband's homemade tumeric-ginger-thyme immune-boosting tonic teas. @Rose Dixon you are one brave lady! ?

I'll drink coffee if someone has made some, but don't necessarily seek it out and tend to doctor it heavily with cream and sugar. Like Heather, I prefer a strong cup of black tea in the morning - Earl Grey specifically.

I take my coffee any way I can get it! Dark, light, sweet, bitter, just give me the coffee! ?

I set my Ninja up with ground coffee at night and put the timer on for a fresh brewed cup in the AM. No additives - just black coffee!

I have to have my coffee with some creamer! Using Almond milk creamer to be better. ☕

For the last few years I have enjoyed my coffee black. Unless its from Starbucks where I always choose the white chocolate mocha. At home its fresh ground. At works it various flavors from a Keurig.

It used to be lots of creamer and extra sugar, but I've eliminated the extra sugar and gotten used to just the sugars in the creamer itself.

I put my coffee in my Vitamix with…ready…protein powder, turmeric root (and a splash of black pepper for better absorption), cinnamon, ginger, matcha powder, chia seeds, broccoli. cauliflower, beet, spinach and a splash of almond milk.

Ohhhh @Rose Dixon this is right up my alley!

I am one of the odd ducks who hate Starbucks coffee. I used to roast my own and in that process I learned that the lighter and medium roast coffees have more of the actual coffee oil left in them and therefore more actual coffee flavor. Now dark roasts just taste burned to me. When I go to Starbucks, I get a Chai Latte - hot in the winter, iced in the summer.

Fantastic point @Brent Troth - In a pinch, Starbucks will do for me. But if I'm home and in my local area, I definitely go to my local coffe shop that roasts their own beans for the good stuff!
