I am new to Blackbaud, in fact we are in the transition process.


However, we are also planning fall registration.  Can someone explain how online registration works?  Do advisors assign registration codes?  Do students need to know what they need to register for or does the advisor assign the courses?

    Hi Helen,


    We are using self-enrollment leaving the option open to the student. The platform is able to check if the student already took a class and hide prerequisites if they have not been taken by the student. After this, the Academic Dean / Advisors, verify if the classes are under their Degree Plan. The issue we found was that the Requirements page is not fully developed and we cannot rely on the degree plans we created within the platform. 

    Also, the self-enrollment process is not linked to billing. Be prepared to run the Generate Charges process everyday to record the right tuition in the case a student changed his/her enrollment. Billing Management System is not able to generate fees by credit hour, so if you recorded manual fees, they will not be updated with Generate Charges. This has to be done manually.

    About the student side, they are comfortable using self-enrollment because they don't have to come to the campus.

    However, another issue is Students/Registrar are not getting email notifications when students completed the self-registration or if they made changes.


    Take in count that if the class doesn't have time block assigned, it will not be showed up on the student side. If you are going to add Online classes, they need to have a time block assigned.

    Dear Helen, have you found a solution for this? I am currently seeking a report like this for our registration process. We are also somewhat new to Blackbaud. Thank you!
