60132b43ff3e5f90ec5ba26aa26ddbb0-huge-npNonprofit Intelligence enables you — and others at your organization, such as directors and fundraisers — to quickly and easily track and analyze overall fundraising performance with a series of insightful dashboards and metrics. Currently, Nonprofit Intelligence includes a new Analyze feature in Raiser's Edge NXT with rich analysis and visualization of your overall fundraising efforts, plus detailed records of individual campaigns, funds, and appeals, complete with metrics to help track and compare their specific effectiveness. To help minimize impact, Nonprofit Intelligence will release in waves to every organization using Raiser's Edge NXT... so if you don't have it yet, you will soon! When you do, one of your number one questions will likely be: "How does Nonprofit Intelligence calculate all these giving totals and amounts?"

It's understood that everyone has their own unique needs and formulas to track their giving numbers, so in the future your organization will be able to choose which gift types to include in the calculations. In the meantime, Nonprofit Intelligence uses default formulas to crunch numbers for giving analysis. While the gift types included in the number-crunching varies some between metrics, most focus on revenue received — or your cash-in-hand — and only include giving through:
  • Donations (or "cash" gifts in the database view)
  • Gifts of stock/payment (based on their original amount, not the sold amount)
  • Payments toward pledges, matching gifts, recurring gifts, and planned or legacy gifts
These revenue received metrics don't include soft credits; gifts-in-kind; pledges; gifts of Other; or commitments of matching gifts, recurring gifts, or planned or legacy gifts.

Other metrics include a wider range of gift types, such as to capture revenue committed to your organization. For example, the Total amount sums under Top donors on the record of a campaign, fund, or appeal include:
  • Donations (or "cash" gifts in the database view)
  • Payments toward recurring gifts
  • Commitments of pledges, matching gifts, and planned or legacy gifts
  • Gifts-in-kind
  • Gifts of stock/property (based on their original amount, not the sold amount)
  • Gifts of Other
To avoid double-counting, these revenue committed metrics don't include soft credits, recurring gift commitments, or payments toward pledges, matching gifts, or planned or legacy gifts.

When you select the green ? tab in the upper right, you get a quick rundown of the metrics available based on where you are in Raiser's Edge NXT. From there, you can follow a "For more information" link for a deeper dive into the whats and whys behind a specific metric. You can also search the help by keyword — such as a metric's name — for that detailed information.
