Duplicate Management now generally available!

Duplicate Management is now generally available in Raiser's Edge NXT web view, providing automated duplicate detection as well as great new tools to manage merging duplicate constituent records.

Record Management: Duplicate Management is now Generally Available!

We’re here: Thanksgiving is less than a week away and that means #GivingTuesday is quickly approaching.  We know you are in the super busy crunch time preparing for End of Year which has us excited to share Duplicate Management in Raiser’s Edge NXT web view.  This feature will aid your organization in managing constituents during and after the big EOY push.

Here is a quick two minute video: Duplicate Management Overview

With Duplicate Management:

  • The duplicate detection process automatically checks for duplicates. Checks start from the last time duplicates were checked and review all records that were added or edited in this time period.

  • View Match Likelihood and Matched On with icons instead of a score for quick and easy visibility.

  • Compare details of possible duplicate constituent records side by side to decide whether to merge or mark as not a duplicate.

  • In the side by side comparison screen, constituent records are fully editable enabling you to make any changes needed to the record before or after the merge.

Important considerations

  • After the merge is completed, the duplicate (source) record is marked inactive. You can then opt to delete the record.

Note that in this release, you must delete records in database view. To make this process more efficient, a Create list of source records button on the Merged duplicates tab enables you to create a constituent list. Use this list to create a database view query. Use this query with database view functionality to delete constituent records in bulk.

  • Some constituent data is currently not included with Duplicate Management - education and membership information, for instance. You can still transfer this data from the source to the target record using database view merge. Do this after the merge of data has occurred in Duplicate Management in web view. Be sure to do these merges in database view before deleting the inactive / merged source records.

How do I find Duplicate Detection in Raiser’s Edge NXT web view?

If you’re an admin, you’ll see the Possible Duplicates tile on the Data Health page when it’s available for your organization.  The Data Health page is found under Tools, Data Health in the navigation. To enable other users to access Duplicate Management in the web view, create a Tools role and add them to it from Control Panel, Security.

When will Education and Membership information be included in this merge utility? It's kind of useless to us without these.
Phillip Kinson‍ This is expected to release to Church Management in the next few weeks.  It is actively being worked on now.
Nancy Hartman‍ Duplicate Management merges the relationship types supported in Raiser's Edge NXT Webview - Individual and Organization.  Merging fund or education relationships in database view after the web view merge was the correct path to take.
This is an essential need in Church Management.  When is it possible we would see it there, since Church Management is built on the RE NXT chassis?
Ron Fontenot, yes, the educational relationship did not merge, I tried it on multiple records.
Nancy Hartman‍ the merge should handle individual and organization relationships.  Was your experience with a different type of relationship record? (IE fund or education)
Great news!
This is great, I tried it today, I found that the Relationship record does not merge in NXT. I had to go into the database view to merge in the relationship. Everything else seemed to go.
Looking foward to seeing how this works in NXT compared to database!

Looking forward to utilizing this!!
Nice!
