What’s New: K12 Product Updates For November 13

Published
Believe it or not, we’re down to just two more releases in 2019. Just like the Thanksgiving holiday, the November update is stuff with all kinds of new features, updates, and more. So, let’s get to it and take a look at some of the new stuff waiting for you in the November 2019 release for the Blackbaud Education Management Solution.

We’ve got all the best side dishes for this release as each of the products have something new for you to check out. Enrollment management some tuition updates, School website has a few more updates to athletic schedules, Core now has more customization options, Academics is going big on drag and drop features this month, and we even have a few API updates to share.

So, without further ado, let’s check out some of the big-ticket items coming inside of tomorrow’s November 13 release.

Core: More Filters and Columns for Student Lists! If you’re a list manager, then we have some exciting news for you. Inside of Student lists, you can now filter by enrollment status and school program information. Previously, school program was only available from User lists or the Contact card on a user profile.

If that isn’t enough, we have new column options that can be displayed such as New or returning, Enroll date, Start school, and Start school level. With these filters and column options, you could create a list of students to contact who were previously Incoming students and are now Students.

Enrollment management: Payment plans, tuition, and more. Oh my! Enrollment managers can now choose a tuition amount from the first section of the Contract Generation modal if there are multiple options. This includes programs like international, in a school program, in boarding/day school, and more.

Speaking of payments, parents now only see the remaining tuition months instead of the total number on a Smart Tuition payment plan. Essentially, only the number of months remaining where tuition is allowed is displayed. The current month is only counted if it is a tuition month and the payment day selected is less than the current day.

API: OneRoster. With this release, rostering integration is now available to all! If you want to let a third party access your school’s data, you first need to generate a secure token they can use to authenticate to your site.

This can be done through Core by going to Settings, Integrations settings, and then OneRoster. In here, select the ellipsis icon and then edit on the row next to the existing credentials for a provider. Copy the key, copy the secret, and provide both to the third-party vendor. For more details, make sure to check out the release letter and online help.
