Academics

Assignment Annotations

A new annotation tool is available for faculty reviewing files their students submit with assignments. The new tool has several improved features, including the ability to annotate in color, add text anywhere in documents, and print and download files with annotations intact.

The first time faculty access the assignment evaluations page after this update, they will see a pop-up window including to this video highlighting the new annotation features.

Edit student enrollment via academic profile

Users who edit a student's enrollment via a student's academic profile will now be directed to the modern Edit student enrollment page.

Find a student using the People finder in Academics, then go to the Groups tab. Find a term under Academics, Activities, Advisory, or Athletics and select Manage. Make any changes and then select Save and close.

We will be making the modern enrollment editing tool available via other areas of Education Management in the coming weeks.

Managing academic rosters in Faculty view

When managing the roster for a class in Faculty view, teachers and students are both listed in a uniform grid with details that can be edited. This change only applies to Classes, and it is only visible to users who already had the ability to manage class rosters. It does not affect Athletic, Activities, or Advisory groups.

In Faculty, go to a class page and open the Roster tab. Select Manage roster. Columns display the name of each Teacher, their Role, and the option to change the Head teacher if more than one teacher is associated with the class. The Students section of the Manage roster screen is also displayed as a grid. Select the context menu beside a student name to choose Transfer, Drop, or Edit enrollment type.

When you have finished making changes to the class roster, select Save.

Billing management (Early Adopter Program)

Deposit filter added to Recent payments list

A new filter, Deposit, is now available on the Recent payments list. Filtering recent payments using the Deposit filter results removes payments that do not match the specified deposit number from the list.

Financial Aid management

Budget Codes

At the Enterprise level, Advanced Enterprise Users can define Budget Codes to use as custom tags for managing possible students to add to a budget. To create and manage Budget Codes, set the Schools drop-down to All Schools, and select Settings > Codes. Codes are assigned to families on the Family Detail page. In budget details, a Budget Code column is now available in the student grid for sorting and filtering.

Tuition management

Override Duplicate Export Check for FE/FENXT exports

When exporting payment data to Financial Edge or Financial Edge NXT, users can now select Override Duplicate Export Check to allow previously exported data to be exported again. Previously, users had to contact Support to override the duplicate check and allow data to be exported more than once.

Core

Blackbaud ID: Migrate this by September 27, 2022

Platform managers can migrate users to Blackbaud ID via the links on the Core home dashboard. They can also export user lists for use in mail merges and other communications.

We’ve extended the deadline to migrate users. Ensure your school’s users are on BBID by September 27, 2022.

Authenticating with Blackbaud ID:

  • ensures an even more secure authentication process,

  • enables users to further enhance security by enabling multi-factor authentication through text messages or mobile authenticators,

  • enables users to login to multiple Blackbaud solutions and support resources with a single username and password,

  • enables users to login with “social authentication” via Google’s authentication requirements, password resets, and other support needs,

  • enables users to help themselves reset forgotten passwords, rather than platform managers needing to provide tech support for forgotten passwords,

  • enables schools to enable an optional SSO for any roles they prefer, so that those users sign in with the school’s identity providers and the school can then manage the users in their claimed domains.

Enforce Blackbaud ID Requirement (Opt-In to EAP)

Platform managers can select to join the early adopter program (EAP) which forces all users to log in with Blackbaud ID (BBID) before it’s required for all schools.

From Core, select Security, select Blackbaud ID authentication, select Enforce Blackbaud ID authentication, and finally select Enforce to confirm you want to join the EAP.

When you enforce BBID, all users, regardless of their security role, will be required to log in with Blackbaud ID.

During the EAP, you can revert and opt out to stop enforcing BBID. However, later this year, it will still be enforced for all schools, all users, and all security roles, as previously announced.
