I still remember getting my first smartphone. It was an incredible feeling to hold a minicomputer in the palm of my hand. I spent the next week figuring it out, setting up my email and social media accounts, and choosing my preferences. It was an enjoyable process to explore all the new features and get the hang of operating this tiny computer.
Fast-forward to a month ago when I broke my phone and needed a new one. I spent exactly 15 minutes setting it up. I had come far from needing a week to learn a new technology. This is partly due to my experience operating smartphones over the last 10 years, but also due to the intuitiveness of the functionality. Over the years, the interface has become easier and easier to use—making it easier and easier to learn.
