Abandoning Blackbaud K-12 EMS LMS due to lack of integration?

Due to the lack of integration between Teams Assignments and Blackbaud K-12 EMS LMS we have been forced to basically abandon it. Our teachers didn't want to have create all assignments twice so we just went with Teams. Likely whenever that integration does come it will be too late and momentum will have shifted. It is unfortunate but the reality of distance learning as the assignments facilities Teams are much more flexible for our teachers and integrate with OneNote / Forms which LMS also doesn't any longer. Anyone else been forced down this path?

  • Brian,  Thanks for sharing this!  We are doing the double work like you mentioned hoping for integration sooner rather than later.  I agree with your post and feel it is a critical time and opportunity missed if it can't be integrated soon.  onCampus is our school's backbone and hub for communication, assignments and grades so we continue to require teachers communicate all h/w and grades in onCampus but in many cases are just pointing our students / parents to OneNote and TEAMS like you mentioned.  Not ideal at all.

  • Much like MikeL, we are a little too invested in the BB LMS to jump ship.  The saddest part about this is that the Blackbaud Developer‍ is understaffed to make rapid progress with OneRoster and API connectivity.  Having to redirect developers to other "more important" initiatives tells me we need some more developers....
  • I just couldn't get forcing teachers to do double work for not much gain. I am afraid once we move away from the LMS it will be hard to go back.
  • We use Teams for class meetings with students at home. In order to avoid having students and parents look all over for assignments, we have stayed with Blackbaud LMS. I have no interest in integration. I have spent lots of time learning Blackbaud. I don't think my school (or its teachers) want to go through more training to figure out Teams.
