Niche.com

Does your school work with Niche.com? I had a call with them today, and the basic contract is $6K/year. I'm wondering if other schools find that the investment is worthwhile in terms of qualified inquiries/applicants? Any feedback would be much appreciated!

  • We get solicited by them as well but haven't seen value in what they provide. It seems like those that pay get to be higher on their rankings which brings into question the value of them.
  • They have reached out to me for many years but I always felt the cost was too high. We have a new marketing director this year and she signed up with them. I do not have any stats, but since we have become a featured school, we have A LOT more tours and applications than last year at this time. Again, I don't know if it is coincidental or because more potential families are finding us due to Niche. We've only been a featured school for a couple months. They are definitely sending more visitors to our website.
  • When I recently attempted to claim our school on Niche, that triggered an account rep to reach out to me, asking for some time to explain how Niche works, what features are unpaid and paid, etc.... I scheduled a Webex meeting with her where she went through Niche's stats, features and pricing. I used to think of them as only a pay-to-play review site (I was reluctant to even set up a meeting with her) - but I was surprised to learn what they actually offer. They are leveraging the access they have to families actively looking for schools (which is the biggest challenge when using other social platforms). In a nutshell, they offer recruiting on Niche (via your school's profile on Niche) and audience remarketing via display ads on Google, FB, IG, Google Search, etc... and tracking. I had no idea that they offered more than just premium real estate on their site, and the fact they have access to so many actively looking families is a big draw. There's also a new feature in Niche called PLACES TO LIVE that connects users looking at specific communities. That said, the pricing is steep and it's a year-long commitment.
