Different Gifts From Same Entity - Foundation & Corporate Giving

Hi! I am wondering what others do when you have funds coming from different entities all related to eachother. For instance, we receive money from a company through their Foundation as well as Corporate funds and need to be able to distinguish which entity the funds are from. In some instances, there is also difference contact and address information for both.


Do you keep under 1 record or have 2(+) records - and if so how do you link them? We were thinking either soft credits and/or relationships but are looking for others insight!

    2 records with the recognition defaults set to soft credit so I don't have to think about when I enter the gift/grant/sponssorship...

    Debbie is correct. Otherwise, you're going to have confusion when it's time to issue receipts and sending acknowledgement letters.
  • Absolutely 2 separate records. If soft credits are needed, set those up in the relationships as suggested. If not, still use a relationship to track that they're related, event if companies.
