Virtual auction platforms

We are trying to find a cost effective virtual auction platform. Any recommendations?

  • We began using Givery for our virtual fundraisers and auctions and they've worked quite well for our needs.

  • I've used Auctria multiple times and have found it very easy to use on both the back end and the bidder end! You can export very detailed information so that you can input it into your database as well. They have great support too.

  • We've used Bidding For Good for several years with much success.

  • @Dauna Kennedy event.gives is a Blackbaud partner who has done a lot of successful virtual auctions over the past year and a half.

  • After a very rough experience with a cheap provider, we went with OneCause (BidPal). They are not necessarily the cheapest, but our experience with them has been seamless. We went with a 3-year contract, which gave us a big yearly discount, plus our first year (before Covid) was an in-person event, and they gave us several extras. Their software is easy to use, easy to set up online ticketing and auction, and I can't say enough about their reporting options! I know you are looking for cost effective, but in this case, we definitely got what we paid for.

  • We've used GiveSmart for the past several years, and it's worked pretty well. This will be our first year without their staff on-site the evening of our event to help with check-in, bidding, etc., though, so we'll see how it goes!

  • We have used Greater Giving for two types of auctions in the last year. We had a 5-day silent auction last August and a live art auction in April and both worked very well. The platform is easy to use for bidders, the reports are helpful, and their support is very responsive. They have lots of resources and webinars for learning the platform.

  • We use GiveSmart for our virtual auctions and it has worked very well for the past 3 years. Last year we did two virtual auctions with our gift shop items and they both were very successful.

  • We, too, have used GiveSmart for a number of years with no concerns or issues.

  • We have been using Greater Giving for years including online bidding at our live events. We went fully virtual this February and it continued to be very user friendly. The annual fee for Greater Giving is fairly low but there is an add-on fee for the online bidding module but depending on how much you plan on raising, it should be cost-effective.

  • Hi Dauna- Many people are using OneCause (formerly bidpal) here in Vegas. It is less expensive than GiveSmart, but what those two have that other, less pricey platforms don't is a text to donate/bid option. I did some research for a previous event and QGiv and Clickbid were the best of the cheaper platforms. Let me know if you have more questions and best of luck with your event!

  • We use Greater Giving as well. Wedo a hybrid live/ silent auction but our sister museum used them for an exclusively virtual auction. I'm not sure they are the best out there. It may just be a case of staying with what you know.

  • Hi Amanda, Do you know anyone who has used event.gives? We are considering them for an upcoming fundraiser and would like to get feedback from an actual user.
