Hiring a new database administrator

Hello. I'm hiring a new DB administrator and I'm wondering if anyone has any tips to assess/test candidates skills as presented on their CVs?

  • For previous jobs, I had to take typing tests to make sure I can type fast and efficiently. Personally, I would give a test on adding a record from a sheet of paper you create to see how much information a person captures. Do they add the middle initial or nickname, do they remember to add the salutations, do they correct the spelling of items, do they know where to add relationships, do they add the correct constituency, etc… I would also test on query knowledge since queries are used so much in this type of position.
