IRS 990 Report

Hi All!

I'm new to this position and don't have a roadmap for most things and just came upon a new task that I'd love help with. How do you run your annual 990 report for donors over $5,000? I thought it would be straightforward, but I must be missing something.

If you have a set report, would you mind sharing the parameters? Thanks!

  • I use a constituent query to gather the records together, then export to pull out what I need to for the 990. I can't get into RE dbview today, but I remember my query as using the summary field to define gift date and gift types and gift amount.

  • Thank you, Heather!

  • We use Reports > Analytical Reports > Top Donors Report. Under the 7: Format tab > Detail you select the top XX donors based on the amount given.

  • We also use the Top Donor report that Therese describes.

  • Our org. produces 990 reports for six foundations that have their own unique 501c3. Due to the complexities Years ago, I built a query that I embed into RE:Export which gives us more flexibility on all the details for each of the markets. My YE reports already have those 5K+ gifts plus mailing info included which removes the necessity to produce a separate 5K+ report every year for the healthcare system's Tax Department.
