Handouts for Parents and Students Requested

Esteemed Friends: I am new to BB LMS Zoo and am wondering if any of you are willing to share templates and examples of onboarding resources you have used to train parents and students.

I am especially interested in materials that provide parents and students a walkthrough for viewing progress/grades.

Thanks a million ahead of time.

  • @Jim Vaughn, our Director of Educational Technology create videos for parents and students. He recorded himself impersonating “Susie Student” and “Patty Parent” and narrated the step by step video on navigating the student portal with views based on the student view and parent view. They're posted on the resources board for parents and students, but links were sent out in our parent e-blast and are provided at new parent orientation.

Prior to that we had taken step by step screenshots and inserted text bubbles to explain the process of logging in and navigating the portal. We had it printed as a resource as well as electronically.

@Jim Vaughn - I have two resources for students and parents:

    • a series of brief videos - primarily for students (spartans.sstx.org/lms). I also refer parents and teachers to the last video: linking the LMS calendar to a Google calendar.
    • a series of shared Google Docs with instructions on specific topics. I use Google Docs instead of PDFs because they are easier to update over time. The links to those documents are here. (These docs have not been reviewed for 2022-23 yet, so some screenshots may be out of date.)

You are welcome to use any of this as a starting point for creating the docs for your school.

  • @Jim Vaughn -

I created a Resource Board to share helpful resources with parents/guardians.

Here are a couple of basic resources that haven't been updated for BBID yet, but I hope they're still helpful. I use Google Slides to create everything, and then I post PDFs on the Resource Board.

And here are the grade-related resources I share:

    Hope these help!
