Dealing with Raiser's Edge Fees and Pledge Payments

We're new to RENXT and I'm looking for advice about applying payments to pledges. We have online forms set up and by default the donor is covering the Raiser's Edge fees but it's causing problems because the amount doesn't match the pledge amount. For example, we have a donor who pledged $100 last month and just paid through our online form yesterday. Because they covered the Raiser's Edge fees, the total payment is $103.94 so I'm getting alerts/error messages when I try to apply the payment to the $100 pledge because they don't match. As of right now my understanding is that I can change the pledge amount to $103.94, but is there a way I can truly split the gift and have only $100 applied to the pledge but still track the $3.94 processing fees?

@Moriah Petersen Griffin You should have two options. You should be able to either increase the pledge or create a separate gift with the remainder. In this situation I think the latter is the option you are looking for.

Until RE NXT Gift batch processing (which is currently being worked on) improves, you are going to be dealing with an approved gift in database view.

So in the case of “overage” in pledge payment, you will have to manually create a 2nd “Cash” gift of the extra, and reduce the gift created from the web batch to $100 that applies to the pledge. (updating the pledge amount is an option ONLY if the pledge is not in a financially closed year already, also depends on your finance procedures).
