Cost of Sales on the Merchandise Sales Report

Hello - I am trying to recreate the Cost of Sales field on the Merchandise Sales Report in an ad-hoc query. I have built a query off the Sales Order source view. Does anyone know which field I need to pull over to get the cost of sales? I have tried the retail price and current unit cost and neither are adding up to what is in the Merchandise Sales Report. Thanks!

Hi Madison,

Did you try the “Average cost” field?

• Sales Order Item\\Sales Order Item Merchandise\\Inventory item\\Average cost

While we use the “Current cost” to write purchase orders, we use “Average cost” for our inventory queries. The “Average cost” should better match the Merchandise Sales Report.

That said, it is not uncommon for our inventory queries to give a slightly different number than the Merchandise Sales Report. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out why, and eventually we just accepted that small differences will occur.
