Ownership and Synchronization of Parent Data for Higher Ed Institutions

My instution is in the middle of our RENXT implementation, converting from Ellucian Banner Advancment. I have a question to those of you who have made this type, or a similar, conversion. Or, any instution using RENXT with the same scenario.

Currently, we get all incoming student and parent data from Slate (admissions) as it is transferred to the Banner SIS and Banner Advancement at the same time. Since Banner is the campus-wide ERP system, this information is available also to the registrar's office, executive office and other departments. However, now that Advanement will be siloed on RENXT, what is the best practice for consituent flow to and from RENXT for mainly current parent data, but student data as well. For instance, do you duplicate the data from your campus wide ERP? If a parent constituent contacts you to update an address, or if you obtain an update at an event, how is this synchronized with the other sytstem(s)? We are also implementing Omatic, so we have a tool for data transfer, but I am specifically asking about your business rules here - manual alert for changes between departments? One-way sync? Who owns the data? Bi-directional synch?
