Calendar Best Practices

Hello! This community has been so helpful to me and I would love to get some advice/wisdom/best practices. Our school has two buildings - and we would like to create a facilities calendar for the use of all the different spaces in both buildings (two libraries, two gyms, two cafeterias, etc.). Ideally, all faculty would be able to view the calendar, but only certain people would be able to add events to the calendar. I would love to get some advice if anyone has done something like this about what has worked best for their school. Thanks in advance for the help!

  • @Amy Welsh We use a product called Go FMX.

We use the calendar for room reservations for all of our divisions spread out over two campuses.

We set up our building and area calendars, build event categories which help restrict access, and add them to a calendar, and give the correct roles access to these calendars. We clone the page manager role to restrict access as needed. Here is a presentation our former communications director gave at the 2017 K12 conference describing the setup.

We have a calendar committee that manages things and is allowed to add items to the calendar and reserve spaces.

  • @Nancy Kierstead Thank you!! I'm going to take a look at this presentation - this looks like it might be just what we need!
