Single Sign On with SP41

Blackbaud recently announced the following for SP41:

In our effort to continue to provide enhanced security and reliability for our solutions, we wanted to let you know that we will end support for in-product single sign-on in Blackbaud Internet Solutions™ with the release of Service Pack 41.

One of my products (BBIS Power Tools) includes a "run as user" feature. This feature allows a CRM administrator to select a BBIS user and 'run as' that user.

This feature relies on the SSO Login part within BBIS. (If you want to see the configuration guide for the feature, it can be found here.)

It seems likely that Service Pack 41 will cause this feature to stop working. I am interested in supporting a BBIS 'run as' feature using alternative methods. Does anyone know whether the "Site administration" link from the CRM "Web" functional area will continue to work after SP41? If it will continue to work, then I can leverage the same technique that it is using - although I think that will only work for 'running as' BBIS users who are currently linked to CRM application users.

If anyone from Blackbaud is monitoring these posts, I'd be interested in any technical details that you can share about BBIS logins post-SP41.

Hi @Joseph Styons - we have seen this post and passed onto our engineers and support staff to review

  • @Chris Ager , can you confirm whether or not SSO will be removed from BBIS starting with BB CRM service pack 41? If so, does this mean each user will need to login separately to BBIS using "User Login" web part, rather? Does this mean they will not be able to be logged in from CRM by clicking the BBIS link within the "Web" functional area?
