Advisories

I am trying to set up our counseling department who are split into four groups by alphabet.

I do not understand the purpose of Advisories, but our system has many more people than just Counselors.

Can anyone shed some light on this topic and share how your counseling department is set up in Blackbaud.

We are now using Advisory for counseling as the best way to give the Counselors access to student/family info and to have the counselors included on official notes, etc. In the past we tried using Athletics (our school doesn't have athletics, so it was just an empty module) and assigning a "team" to each "coach" (counselor) - but unsurprisingly it was like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

Now that we're using Advisory instead, we've got the group page access set up to exclude parents and students from seeing the counseling "advisory" groups at all - that way the counselors have access to roster info but the whole setup is invisible to the kids/families.

I'm surprised there's not a counseling module in BB. It would be cool to include some of the features of the Nurse's Office such as visit notes, etc. Would love to see that feature.
