Early Years Progress Reporting

Good afternoon All,

For the past couple of years, I have been limping along using a script and spreadsheets to create individual student documents for teachers to record student progress. Currently I make 3 documents for each student. The Teachers are recording both letter grades and long form responses.

The word document system has had a few very hard to diagnose and even harder to reproduce hiccups with editable vs non editable fields.

Curious how this type of reporting is handled in other schools using blackbaud.

  • Hi @John Bozek,

Our school transitioned a couple years ago from Word/Google documents to Blackbaud’s ‘report cards’ for both our Preschool and Elementary school progress reports that are shared with parents. Overall, it has worked well for us.

Our Preschool and Elementary report cards allow for comments/narrative as well as ‘grades’ for ‘assessment skills’ with skills that vary based on grade level. Our reports allow for one 'long form response', or Comment as we call them, per student per trimester but you can add more.

I’ve attached a generic sample here for a Preschool 2s student that may be helpful to see. Note the key that is in the beginning that identifies our 'grades' for Preschool.
