Merging batches

Hi, 

Is it possible to merge gift batches?  I have a few monthly giving batches and it would be great to merge into one.  Thanks!

    Hi Veronica, 

    I recall trying to do this with our credit card batches that we charge monthly.  I think the ultimate outcome was to create a query for the 2 batches and then automatically generate a new 3rd batch (Tools, Automatically Generate Transactions/Payments) and finally abandon the former 2 batches once the new batch populates.  Otherwise, we were at risk of losing the contents of the existing batch if we tried to add to it (with the automatic generation tool).  Hope this helps and sorry for the vagueness - it was a few years ago and I'm going off memory alone.     Hi Veronica Renzo‍, The only way I'm aware of merging batches is if you are in Online Express you can add to an existing query. It doesn't sound like that is what you are trying to do. If it is and you would like me to expand let me know and I'll try to get you a screenshot. I'll need to let my gift entry person know to grab one and we have already dealt with all our credit cards for the day.

    Thank you Dina and Elizabeth! I think I need to try Dina's suggestion and going forward add to existing query as Elizabeth says.  It's frustrating as I didn't know this would be an issue when we switched to Online Express.  Elizabeth if you can, pleas do a screenshot.

    Good afternoon:


    Yes you can combine batches in RE. Just go to Query and create a gift or constituent query. Then search for "batch number" and use the "One Of" operator, then type in each batch number in the "Criteria Window. Then, in your output window, add what you want to see. If this is a constituent query and you add too much data you might get duplicates then you have to take that query to the export module to run your final report.


    If you create a "Gift Query" you can use the information for your reports or whatever you want to do with this info, because gift queries do not duplicate giving information. Have a nice day
