creating athletic events

Hi-

I'm evaluating the SKY api with respect to syncing our athletic schedule with a separate vendor. It is unclear to me if if the SKY api Patch game is capable of creating a practice or match.  The ON api has this ability, and the migration documentation points to the Patch endpoint in SKY, but I am not able to use it (that I've found in testing via the console) without a schedule_id from an existing event.  Am I missing something simple?
