Gift Aid Declaration

When a create a new Constituents via the Sky API I need to access the Declaration Information so I then can submit new Gifts with Gift Aid qualification status as Qualified?


How would you recommend the best possible way to overcome this issues?

    Hi Luke Manuel‍, you're correct that there is no access to the declaration information via SKY API. While we are aware that this is a gap, there are no current plans or timeline for when this will be available.


    I don't know what recommendations we can make to overcome this in the meantime. David Zeidman‍ and Warren Sherliker‍ may have come across the same challenge as they work with customers in the UK who need to claim Gift Aid. They may have some workarounds.

    Yes - its frustrating but there is nothing currently via the API.


    We have a process where we update all we can via the API and then dump out data ready to import using database view Admin > Import for the actual gift aid declarations. At least you can get the person, their contact details and the gift on. Just the gift aid declaration and gift benefits have to come via the older manual import route.


    That is until BB get time to program the endpoints...


    Sorry to not have a magic solution there - we did try though!

    Can I ask why this isn't in the development plans ? everyone in the UK uses gift aid and you are selling this product to organisations in the UK. The time saving from workarounds for us is massive considering in order to fill this gap you would only need one field in the database "gift_aid" with one end point for the CRUD operations added to the Gift entity, can't be more than 2 days work for a developer to write and test. I might be missing something of course as I'm just getting used to your API and product now, let me know if I am.

    The old adage of competing priorities and limited resources applies here. I've only heard a few requests for this and I didn't see anything submitted to the Ideas portal, so I created one for people to start voting on. I agree that this should be a popular request from UK orgs. You're right that the work effort isn't huge, but it's probably more than 2 days.

    FYI - we're going to be reviewing the Ideas portal more regularly than we have in the past. The ideas submitted and the number of votes are only one input into the considerations for what gets committed to, but you should expect a few ideas to get released each quarter.
